I am 23 years old. I have a serious problem with acne, whiteheads and blackheads. I also suffer from open pores. I have used Betnovit N & C which helped for a short period of time. Currently I am using Deriva CMS gel which made my the acne and blackheads go away but is making my skin very dry and flaky (itchy also because of the dryness and shedding of skin). Is this normal when we use Deriva CMS gel and should I continue using it. (It's nuisance to have dry and flaky skin during winter)

General & Family Physician, Dr. Sulochana's Response
Hello, Thank you for writing to HCM
Yes, Deriva CMS will cause dryness of skin. I advice you to use cetaphil cleanser to wash your face. Do not wash face more than twice daily. Apply elovera cream in the morning. Continue Applying Deriva CMS only at night. Drink lot of water and keep yourself hydrated. If dryness persists stop using Deriva CMS.
Regards.
