I am a mother of 3 children, age 33 years. i have an expired iud in me, it expired july and since then i have been experiencing tiredness, dizziness, back pain and hip pains. could the cause be the expired iud? though i am planning to remove it in the course of the week.
Hi, The expired IUD is not effective in protecting against pregnancy. So get it replaced by new one. But it does not cause the symptoms that you have mentioned. Get yourself checked for anaemia, vitamin D/ B12 deficiency or thyroid problem. All of these can cause the symptoms that you have mentioned. I hope I have answered to your satisfaction.
It is very unlikely that the symptoms that you are facing is due to the IUD.
Though the intrauterine devices come with expiry and have to be replaced once they cross their expiry date, it is very unlikely that they have caused any side effects that you have mentioned above.
The tiredness and pain experienced could be due to some other cause, rule out anemia and thyroid problems.
Also you should remove the IUD and replace it with a new one or consider some other method of contraception.
Hope this helps. Regards.
