Does Occurrence Of Venous Statis Retinopathy Make HRT Contraindicated?
I had a one time occurance of venous statis retinopathy after my third child was born 13 years ago. It resolved on it's own within 2 months and did not require treatment. I was told not to use hormones for birth control. Now I have entered Menopause and have symptoms which could be treated by HRT. Does the one time occurance of venous statis retinopathy make HRT contraindicated? ( 47 yo white female, 5'4" tall, 135 lbs - no significant medical issues)
Respected user, hi I evaluated your query thoroughly. * this doesn`t indicate absolute contraindication ,but as HRT is associated with side effects as thrombosis , you have to do detail discussion before initiating treatment with the treating doctor regarding - chances of possible side effects for you - monitoring of clotting parameters during HRT - options of monotherapy of estrogen / combined with progesterone which one is more benificial / less harmful in your case. Hope this clears your doubts. Thanks for using Health care magic & giving me an opportunity to assist you. Welcome for any further queries. Regards dear take care.
