Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Does Taking Flu Shot Lower The Immunity For The Disease?
I have gotten the Flu shot maybe once in my life; I am 51 and have had minimal flu sickness, maybe the three day flu once. If my immune system has some tolerance for the flu virus, if I got the shot will my tolerance become lower, resulting in the need of the shot every year from here on out. Thank you, Danny
Deae Friend. When you take a vaccination (shots) for anything , it activates your immune system and produces antibodies. These antibodies circulates in your system and whenever you get expose to the agent again , those already present antibodies in your body attacks on that agent and helps preventing the infection. But these antibodies have there life span. So it depends on which flu shot you have taken , that it will require a re shot or not.
