Welcome to HCM.The elderly are prone to attacks of Hyponatraemia, the cause is not really known. The low sodium can be corrected by increasing salt intake orally.A mild analgesic like Ibubrufen may be used for the backache. If possible he should walk around ,this will help the peristalsis and reduce gaseousness.Foods like Cabbage, beans should be avoided. The dilantin may be continued and the serum levels of the drug can be checked at regular intervals to ensure adequacy to prevent further seizures.
