Experiencing Numbness In Toes & Fingers Also Noticed Headache

I have the following systems. Should I be concerned. Stuttering, speech is not the same. Sometimes when I talk I feel like I m running out of breath; I ve been having some numbness in my toes and numbness and shaking in my left pinky/ring finger; lately I ve had severe headaches not like migraines I had in the past; short term memory is not so god. Long term-perfect. I m having difficulty focusing and doing everyday tasks. Feel like I have to stop what I m doing for longer periods of time to think about what I m doing. Concentration is not the same. I m 50 years old but have a clean bill of health as far as my heart goes. I have been hit in the head several times for various reasons. Just don t feel right!

Neurologist 's  Response
Hello!

Thank you for asking on HCM!

Regarding your concern, I would explain that your symptoms could be related to a metabolic disorder or a central nervous system disorder.

Repeated trauma are an important risk factor for dementia or headaches.

That is why, I would recommend consulting with a neurologist for a careful physical exam and some tests:

- a brain MRI
- complete blood count for anemia
- PCR, sedimentation rate for inflammation
- thyroid hormone levels.

You should discuss with your doctor on the above issues.

Hope to have been helpful!

Kind regards, Dr. Aida
