HELLO AND WELCOME,

IF shooting pain is associated with fillings,it may be due to exposed pulp which is in contact with the restored material causing irritation.

If the crown is not placed properly,it can cause shooting pain.

First of all site of pain has to be identified and then treated accordingly.

The pain may be associated with infected pulp too.I such cases, infected pulp has to be removed and pulp capping agent has to be applied in between the restoring material to be placed.

PLEASE DO VISIT A DENTIST FOR FURTHER CONCERNS.

Meanwhile analgesics has to be administered to relieve pain.

REGARDS

how long back was the treatment done ?shooting pain may be due to filling done on exposed tooth or more likely due to excess height of the filling.
go to a dentist and get the height of the filling or the crown checked by carbon marks and accodingle get it reduced .
if the problem is not resolved then further xrays and clinical examination would need to be done.
thanks

Hello,
Thanks for sharing your concern with us
dental fillings pain can be a sign that one of your fillings has cracked or moved and decay has set in. Pain can also be a sign of an incorrectly placed filling, so it is a good idea to contact your dentist and set up an appointment so that he or she can look at your tooth and discover the cause of your pain. Various treatments range from the use of over-the-counter pain killers to replacing the filling to a root canal on a seriously damaged tooth.
Treatment is important, as dental decay is typically progressive and may result in severe damage to your teeth and mouth and may even contribute to disease in other parts of your body.

hi and welcome ,

Pain in the restored tooth indicates the presence of infection .
As you have mentioned you have got your teeth treated and filled , i suspect some kind of remnants of decayed tooth material left un explored that has lead to infection .
This infection reaches deep to the dental pulp or the tooth nerve leading to inflammation of nerve tisssue called PULPITIS which leads yo pain and discomfort.
I would suggest you to get an X RAY done for your teeth which will confirm the cause accordingly the filling is replaced and root canal is done .
Meantime you can have analgesics like aceclofenac with serratiopeptidase to control the pain.
i hope this helps,
take care.

dear friend
thanx for sharing your concern,

this could be due to two reasons , as you have mentioned , you have got two fillings done and a crown placed.

have you ever noticed ? which tooth pains actually ? that means the filled teeth or the tooth with crown? yeah! i can understand it is difficult for you to make out, if all are in the same arch and same side but that could have helped me to give exact diagnosis.

with the information available to me i can suggest you two thing.

1. there could be deep dental caries underneath the filled tooth. your pulp is exposed to noxious stimuli causing intense pain in night during sleep , this generally happens with deep dental caries, very close to pulp and infected . if a filling is placed on this it causes intense shooting pain ( acute pulpities).
which is more suggestive in your case .

second if you feel pain during chewing ,and other tooth movements too,
then there could be a problem with your new crown, occlusal problems (high points )or inappropriately placed crown .

you remedies are here,
i can understand you would certainly not like to go to for dental visit but in this situation just go and take an intra oral xray of concerned tooth, to know the reason and then accordingly you can plan your treatment.

meanwhile you can take tab combiflam 500mg every six hourly , for your pain .
this should help thanx

that you had to put crowns over the filled teeth implies that you had extensive decay. In all probability, one or both of your teeth must have been exposed which were not taken care of by the dentist during filling. They should have got Root canal treatment. Now that it is infected, you need to remove the crowns and get the treatment done by some good dentist. As a immediate measure, get the crowns removed and make the pulp chamber opened so that the pus may drain and pressure is relieved. The dentist will prescribe you with suitable antibiotics and pain killers and then you may continue further treatment when you get back home.

Hi,

Thanks for asking the query,

Pain in the filled tooth can be because of two reasons,
There could be dental caries left beneath the restored tooth, when it reaches the pulp tissue causes inflammation of pulp known as pulpitis.

Or there could be presence of high points if you feel pain at the time of chewing or other tooth movements.

I would suggest you to visit a dentist and get an x-ray done, accordingly replace the filling with the Root canal treatment.

Take tab combiflam 500mg twice for pain relief.

Hope this helps out.

Regards.
