Fluid Filled Bump Behind The Ear. Have Itching. What Is It?
I have a fluid filled bump behind my ear (in the crease). There was one like it right below this one a couple of weeks ago. I was rubbing it & it popped and fluid came out. Now another one has developed right above it. The bump starts out small & painless & then gets larger and is painful and itches. When I scratch it, it turns a reddish blue color.
The presence of recurrent fluid filled bumps behind the ear are suggestive of blisters. There are many causes for the development of blisters. They may occur due to primary skin diseases, infections, etc. What is the nature of fluid aspirated from the blisters? If it is pus like, it is suggestive of superimposed infection. Is there any history of insect or bug bite? Itchiness occurs in lesions associated with irritation caused by insect or bug bite.
You can take an anti-histaminic for the itchiness. A clinical examination will help to know the character of the lesion. So, consult your GP for clinical examination, relevant investigations and hence management. Thanks and take care Dr Shailja P Wahal
