Got MRI Scan Report For Right Knee. Can Any Online Doctor Help Me In Reading It?
Hi I ve received a copy of my MRI scan report for my right knee and I just want to know in plain English what it actually means here goes there I A bone bruise and marrow oedema of the lateral condyle of the femur There is a healing osteochondritus of the above Bone marrow oedema off the patella also noted There is myxoid degeneration of the posterior horn of the medial meniscus There is no evidence of free air is clear demonstrated Small joint effusion noted A vertical tear of the anterior horn of the lateral meniscus Please advise thankyou
Hi let me try to help you. Probably you had an injury, that's the findings seen on MRI. 1. Bone bruise is because of the impact/injury just like a bruise on any part of the limb/body, its a bruise on the bone. Lateral condyle of femur is the lower part of your thigh bone just above the knee on the outer aspect 2. Marrow edema means accumulation of fluid within the bone as a result of injury. 3. Meniscii are cushion like structures in the knee joint, which are two in number among which the one has a tear and the other degeneration that is a kind of wearing out.
I hope am clear. You need get examined by a orthopedic doctor, he will co-relate your examination findings and MRI and decide the further plan.
Thank you.
