Got Pricked While Suturing A Hepatitis C Positive Patient. Hepatitis Profile And LFT Normal. Is This Serious?
Hi Sir. Im DR. Abed. Specislist in emergency medicine.I got (3 days)back needle stick by hepatitis c positive patient while i was suturing cut tendon. the brick was by suturing needle to the tip of my middle finger. immidiatly i squeesed and i washed will. i dont have medical prblems except dyslipedemia and im talking Atorvastatin 20mg OD since one year. Hep C antibody for the patient came positive by immunoassay (weekly positive (60). i did my hepatitis profile and LFT(all normal) im very worried and i dont know what to do. please advice Thank you
Hi, I have read your problem . You nee donot to be worried , but you must get your Hep C profile check up at interval of 6 months . As you get needle stick injury 3 days back your profiles are normal because Hep C virus takes time to replicate because Hep C always shows chronicity . So you must discuss it with your doctor or read good book on Medicine and microbiology and pharmacology as it will further enhance your knowledge as you himself are a specialist doctor.

Hi, I have read your problem . You nee donot to be worried , but you must get your Hep C profile check up at interval of 6 months . As you get needle stick injury 3 days back your profiles are normal because Hep C virus takes time to replicate because Hep C always shows chronicity .
