Had Blood Transfusion, IV, Site Is Sore, Swollen, Burns And Itches. Should Be Concerned ?

I was in the hospital for 3 days, had to have a blood transfusion. I've been home 2 days and the IV site where I received 2 units of blood, on bag of iron, and contrast for a CT scan in about a 6 hour time frame is really bothering me. The site was bothering me so I asked them to change it. They did and the second site is not bothering me but the original site is now very sore, swollen, pink, warm and burns and itches. How concerned should I be?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
It seems that due to extravasation of blood in surrounding soft tissues might giving rise to this problem.
There might be possibility of having thrombophlebitis.
Consult treating doctor and with one course of antibiotic and anyi-inflammatory medicines will solve your problem.
Apply Thrombophob cream locally.
Ok and take care.
