Had Copper T Since And Was Not Visible To Take Out. Asked To Use Instruments To Take Out. Suggest?
hi, my wife had copper T since last 3 years and when we went to a hospital they said threads are not visible and need to use some special instruments to take it out. is this something serious? we are planning to go to hospital today. we did the scan and result showed the Copper T is in correct place. Can someone help if this is something serious or can be done without surgery?
She doesn't require any surgery at all. Taking out of slipped Cu-T is very simple process with the help of certain instruments. Position of Cu-T is already confirmed on USG and it in uterine cavity, so it is very simple to it out. In some cases, Cu-T retracts inside uterus or endocervical canal due to various causes and strings can't be felt manually. Get well soon.
Hi Dear, thread of copper T should be visible in per speculum examination to check te device in place. There are many reasons for thread not bee seen including displaced device, misplaced one into the cavity and then into abdominal cavity or as simple as broken or curled up tread. however, if the thread is not seen than the copper T should be removed even if the USG shows it in place because any one of the above can occur at any time as a complication and will get unnoticed because the thread is already missing. The thread also gives you the assurance of the copper T being in place and can be checked by patient herself. It can be removed with a simple instrument known as copper T hook or even by an artery and is not counted as surgery. In my view, go ahead with the removal and simultaneous insertion of the new one
