Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I just had an endoscopy and colonoscopy on Monday, with the endoscopy being first. I woke up during the colonoscopy with extreme pain. I remember the doctor telling me to breathe in and hold my breath for three counts. I was wide awake for the remainder of my procedure. I do not know for how long, but I do remember that she told me three times to hold my breath. What happened? Is that normal? Was it the fault of the anesthesiologist? Are there doctors that do not put patients fully under the anesthesia for a faster recovery time? I am not sure what happened or why it did. Thank you for your time.
