Had Meningitis, Brain Surgery, Spinal Fluid Leakage. Have Headaches, Ruptured Disc, Leg Weakness

my husband had brain surgery in Jan. and had meningitis afterward and had spinal fluid leakage in June and had to have surgery again in July and is still having leakage and bad headaches. My question is if he has meningitis again would he have a weakness in his legs with it? We also just found out he has 2 ruptured disc on L1 and L2 which may be causing the problem but he hasn't been having this problem with his back. He was just in the kitchen and his legs got so weak I had to take him a chair and then help him get to the sofa in the living room. He has been having really bad headaches along with the spinal fluid leakage. The Drs seem to be passing him from one to the other. Thanks in advance

Hello,

Thanks for posting,

First of all, I do not think your husband is having meningitis but rather my be having a spinal injury (peripheral nerve injury) which might be causing the leg weakness or paraplegia. His 2 ruptured disc might be responsible for this spinal injury and if that is the case, then he might require another spinal surgery (which is an extremely delicate surgical procedure). The bad headaches might be coming from spinal fluid leakage (or the abnormal brain process that might be causing the leakage) or from his spine. I suggest your husband see 3 specialists: a neurosurgeon, a neurologist and a physical therapist (an orthopedic surgeon might help too).

Hope your husband finds a better help
