General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello!

Thank you for the query.

Hernia surgery with mesh usually gives such discomfort and pain for much longer than 4 weeks. You need to imagine that the main goal in this surgery is to create a scar in the place where the mesh is inserted. This scar creation takes up to a year (!). Most important processes are in the first 3 month. During that time you should not be lifting any heavy objects. And you should be 3 month off the work as well.
Discomfort can be also caused by nerve injuries during the surgery. Nerve regeneration can take a year as well. So you should be patient and give it some time. Gradually the discomfort should go away.

Hope this will help.
Regards.
