Has Fever, Red Blotches On Body, Chest And Stomach Pain. Did Strep Test, Finger Prick. Virus?

My daughter has a fever that varies from 101-103 for 5 days, red blotches all over her body but touching her skin in the red areas you can see the skin clear up. The. It reappears. Every time I take her to a physician only her face clears up and she appears fine. Except for the occasional complaints of chest and stomach pain. Two ER docs said it appeared to be Kawasaki disease but her pediatrician took one glance/ did a strep test/ and finger prick and said her white blood count was 0000. He said she is fine and bring her back in five days. It is a virus. Is this normal?

Hi,
Thanks for writing to us.
Red rashes over skin in association with fever points towards a viral cause or it could also be typhoid. Kawasaki disease is characterised by fever, skin rash, red eye, red tongue and lips along with enlarged lymph nodes and swellin in hands and feet. i do not think your child is having kawasaki. It sounds like a normal viral fever. Just ask her to take a balanced diet and hydration, adequate rest anbd symptomatic medicines like paracetamol for fever, calamine lotion for rashes, oral antihistamine for itching. if its typhoid oral antibiotics will be required too. Hopefully in four to five days the rash should subside.
Take care
