Has My Skin Developed Wrinkles Due To Facial Exercise?

I have been doing facial exercises for about 4 months now. I was very pleased with the results to start with and the upper part of my face around the cheeks is definitely more toned and the skin tone has improved. Unfortunately though the skin around my mouth has now developed marionette lines and more wrinkles than I had before. I fear I have somehow overstretched or damaged the muscles. What should I do? I did stop exercising for a couple of days but my face was sagging even more. Will my lower face tone back up? I am 48.
