Have Grave's Disease. Taking Tapazole And Propanolol. Can Overactivity Cause Hormonal Surge?
I was dx with Graves in May. My TSH was.01 and t4 >100. I was hospitalized for 8 days, very symptomatic b/c HR was 135-150 and weak. Tapazole 30mg and propanolol now. My numbers are coming down as of last week t4 is 55. I have been pretty deabiliataed. I had two days where I was feeling way better. Can over activity cause a surge in hormones?
Graves disease is auto-immune disease, where TSH-antibodies are produced and causes the excessive stimulation of thyroxine production.
Excessive thyroid hormone causes increased metabolism, increased the heart rate etc.
now the medications you are using contains Anti-thyroid drugs that supress the synthesis of thyroxine.
