Have Fever, Throwing Up. Checked BP, Pulse. Drank Lot Of Fluids. Suggested IV Fluids. Necessary?
Hi I'm looking for a second opinion I have been running a fever of 101 and throwing up for a couple days, my blood pressure is 76/48 and my resting pulse is 63 but I drank 3 liters of fluids though to try to rehydrate after seeing the doctor, he recommended that I get IV fluids, is that still necessary? I am 19 yrs. old 99lbs and 5'6"
I fyou are drinking enough fluids and not throwing up, then you do not really need IV fluids. However, it is difficult to believe that you drink enough if throwing up is one of your symptoms. Your blood pressure seems on the low side but your pulse seems more stable and does not really suggest huge fluid losses.
If you are feeling diizzy and feeling like passing out each tie you stand up,then probably getting IV fluids would be a wise thing to do.However, if you hav eno symptoms and sure of drinking enough, then you may not really want to get IV fluids.
I hope this helps. i wish you well. Stay blessed and feel free to request for more information. Thanks
