Have Liver Nodules. CT Scan Shows Bowel Tumor. Family History Of Bowel Cancer
My dad has nodules on his liver (went to doctors because of upper abdominal pain). CT scan revealed tumour on bowel. Is it likely the bowel has spread to liver? Or could it be another issue? He hasn't really had any bowel changes other than this last week (slight constipation). Also, bowel cancer runs in family and he had colonoscopy 3 years ago- would they not have found something then?
We can say that colon cancer runs in the family (is hereditary) if it appears before the age of 50. Otherwise, its is not hereditary, rather associated with the age. You need to know that the risk of colon cancer significantly rises over the age of 50. Colon cancer can give no symptoms for years. However colonoscopy done 3 years ago should diagnose some changes of the large intestine. Its because colon cancer grows approximately 10 years. Liver nodules and bowel tumor are most likely colon cancer with liver metastases. This should be ruled out at first. To do that, your dad should have colonoscopy as soon as possible.
Hope this will help. Regards.
