You may visit the gynecologist to find the cause. She may do a pregnancy test first to rule out pregnancy as it is the most common cause. She may run a few more tests to figure out the cause. The tests can include blood tests, pap smear, ultrasound, etc. Since you did get spotting you may not need hormonal withdrawal bleed.
