Hba1c Was High, Blood Sugar Level High. On Trivolib, Jalra And Insulin. Sufficient?
Doctor,
My dad aged 73 has been taking insulin for about 15 years now. Recently, since his Hba1C was found to be 8.4 and mean blood sugar in 6 months was found to be 240mg, he was advised to switch to the following medicines - Trivolib 2 in the morning and Jalra 50 at night. However, his blood sugar seems to be much higher than when he was taking 15 units of ActRapid before Breakfast and another 15 units before lunch, and 15 units of Human Mixtard before dinner. Is Insulin the best course for him at this stage?
Hello, Thank you for the query. I have gone through your query and understood your concerns. Insulin is the best choice as a treatment at present for your dad. At this age maintaining sugar levels is very important to prevent its complications and insulin will do its work in a correct manner in preventing complications. If you were my patient I will also advice the same as your doctor. Follow the instructions given by your doctor as based upon the dose you are taking you must keep in mind about hypoglycemia. Hope this answers your query. Thank you.
