Headaches, Shakes And Shivers. What Do They Denote?

Hi, my girlfriend is feeling really bad. She woke up with a slight headache , that has come and gone throughout the day. She never took anything for it because it was so slight of a headache. The only thing she has done today is make breakfast for herself, run to the bank, and play her game on the computer for about an hour, as per the usual. I want to say about an hour or so ago, she started getting these symptoms, shivers , shakes, headache, achy in her joints, and is now running a slight fever . I would love to get her some medicine but, I have no idea what to get for her. Any and all help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance, Dan.

Hi,
Thanks for posting your query.
She may have common cold (Acute flu fever) or meningitis.
You should consult with physician and get thorough check up.
Meningitis is diagnosed by neck rigidity with positive kernig's sign.
While her symptoms suggest acute flu fever, while you should not ignore the consultation with physician.
For flu, she should take decongestants, antipyretics, cough suppressants, muscle relaxants and gargle three times in a day.
