Heavy And Painful Bleeding Two Weeks After Period. Using Copper Coil. Advise?
Hi, I had a copper coil fitted in October 2012, it has been OK. It has caused heavier bleeding and painful cramps but I understand this is normal and expected it to settle by now. It doesn't seem to have settled much at all, although it is bearable. My concern at the moment is that I am now having another period (very heavy and painful) only two weeks after the last. Thank you for any advise you can give.
Hi, thanks for the query. Irregular and heavy and painful periods is one of the major side effects of intrauterine devices. In my opinion, i would suggest for such type of patients tablets of tranaxemic acid and mifenemic acid thrice daily for 5-7 days, along with some iron tablets or syrup as a measure of combating the side effects of heavy blood loss.
Hope this helps.
