hello! I just noticed my 11 month old daughter is getting pink eye, she also has excess mucus, such as a runny nose, she does not have a fever, are there any home remidies I could use to cure these two conditions, is there any alternative than to having to go to the emergency room ? Or are there any over the counter medicines I could buy instead of having to get a prescription ?
Dear Debbie, Thanks for question. Your baby seems to be sufferring from hay fever or allergy due to pollens/dust in the atmosphere. The best and common home remedy is to keep her eyes clean by wiping the lids with moist cotton. Additionally she will require an anti allergic eye drop and a combination of antibiotic with steroid eye drop for a short course of 5-7 days. The runny nose will require oral antihistaminics to subside. But before initiaing any medicined it would be best to let a paediatrician examine her and do the needful.
Dear it isn't safe to apply any home remedies or use over the counter drugs , the best thing is visit an ophthalmic surgeon. He would advise a sac massage and an antibiotic to use , because your child seems to have duct obstruction
