How Can Head Heaviness With Dizziness And Pain Be Treated?
Hi, I'm 41, 10 stone and am almost totally blind due to glaucoma and cataracts which cannot be removed. I've just finished a course of treatment for Breast Cancer and haven't got the all-clear yet. I tripped over and banged my forehead about 4 days ago. I hit my head on a metal door handle right above my left eye. Since then I've had an increasing headache, and my head feels very heavy. I feel sick and have no energy. My head feels tight and it seems to weigh a ton and hurt when I stand up or bend down. The bang was quite hard, it made a loud crack when it occurred but I didn't lose consciousness - just went a bit dizzy. As I have pain in my neck too, is it anything I should be concerned about or will it just get less painful on it's own? It wakes me up at night and I'm quite frightened.

Thank you for your question
I understand this would be frightening
You are justified to have concern about your condition and in my opinion you should have it checked out.
I think most likely you are suffering from the affects of a concussion, which is not life threatening, but can cause very disturbing symptoms. The treatment for a concussion is brain rest and symptoms usually improve over the course of days to weeks.
With you other medical problems I would suggest you go to the emergency room or see your doctor today
I work in the emergency room and if I were your doctor I would order a CT of your head and neck to make sure you did not have any bleeding in your brain or fractures of your skull or neck.
Hope this helps,
Dr Dupy
