How Can The Splinter Be Removed From The Hand?

At work my husband got a splinter in his hand . It is rather large and it went straight in and very deep. it is not visible to the eye. I read that applying a paste of baking soda and water to the area will draw it out. is this true, and if not, what do we do?

A splinter that large and going that deep should be removed by a doctor. I would not trust a paste to draw it out. The doctor will have to be able to find out where it is (perhaps by xray), and possibly make an incision to be able to pull it out. I would recommend you go to an urgent care clinic or your regular doctor and have this done promptly. The splinter could be a source of infection in his hand which could cause severe damage. He may also need a tetanus shot if he hasn't had one in a long time. Hope this helps. If you have further questions, I would be happy to answer them.
