How could Livalo affect my fingernails? I have three that look like they have the beginning of fungus. Never had this problem before in my life. I am 62. Had this approx 3 months ago. stopped meds. this went away. started again approx 3 mons now its back. Help+
i read your query. I really appreciate your observation. You are absolutely correct. Livalo contains Pitavastatin which is a cholesterol lowering drug.
In very very few patients, it has been shown to cause fungal infection with following predisposing conditions: 1. High cholesterol 2. Heart disease 3. Rheumatoid arthritis
Also it has been shown to cause fungal infection more likely in people with age above 60 years.
I will advice you to consult your physician so that he/she can replace the drug or you can send me your blood reports : lipid profile, blood sugar both fasting and post prandial, hemoglobin levels, Serum creatnine and blood urea levels.
I will also like to know your Blood pressure .
