Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been diagnosed with cellulitis in my lower left leg. There was rash and fever and swelling, plus pain when I walked. I took antibiotics for 10 days. The pain and rash are gone but I still have edema. Does this sound right and how do cellulitsi and phlebitis differ?
Hello. It seems that your cellulite has improved (less pain and rash) although the edema still persists. Cellulite and Phlebitis are not easy to differentiate because in both pathologies there are inflammatory signs (edema, heat, redness, pain). If there is doubt in the diagnosis, an Doppler Ultrasound is performed to rule out thrombosis due to phlebitis.I wish you good health.
