My husband had a quintuple by-pass 18 yrs. ago. He's 75 and outside of having high blood pressure he's been doing fine. I helped him by learning all about diet for heart disease. Now he's been diagnosed with chronic kidney disease, stage 3. The diet for this wants foods with low potassium, red meats, and, of course salt. His blood & urine tests show no hight potassium, salt, phosphorous, Yet he's to cut way back on protein and foods containing them. Why? There's no evidence in his test for this need. Thanks.
