How Long Does It Take For Pain To Subside After A Lumbar Puncture?

My four year old had a lumbar puncture on Friday and can't walk as the pain in her back is so bad. It has been 4 days. She is a healthy child but had swelling on the back of her right eye. All tests came back normal for no tumor or meningitis. So, is the pain in her back normal for this long?

Pain after lumber puncture is very natural. It may linger on for days in many individuals leave alone the child. It is good news that all his reports are normal.For local pain and swelling in lumber area you can give him mild analgesics like acetaminophen. Warm compress might sooth her. If pain becomes unbearable meftal-P syrup can be given once in a while (It should be avoided in normal course as it has some side effects).make sure he does not develop infection there, keep sponging it with antiseptic lotions.
