How Long Will It Take For Redness To Disappear After Skin Tags On Neck Are Cauterized?
I had numerous skin tags (about 70) cauterized on my neck a week ago. They have formed tiny scabs, and some have fallen off.
The skin underneath where the scabs fell off is red. How long will it take before the redness disappears, and would you recommend a topical ointment to help with the healing?
Hello, Thank you for posting your query on HCM. Usually after cauterization of skin tags or any other similar lesions, little redness and swelling is an expected outcome, which usually subsides on its own in few days. From your description, i think the lesions have almost resolved though little inflammation may be present leading to persistent redness. I would advise to avoid picking or scratching as it may lead to secondary infection. You should apply a cream containing mometasone and fusidic acid (Momate-F) to be applied gently at bedtime for few days. If there is associated itching take antihistaminics like levocetrizine once a day. I am sure you will be fine in few days. Take care. Dr Hardik Pitroda
