What Causes Bleeding After Cauterization?

I had cauterization done on Tuesday and was told by my OBGYN I would experience some bleeding of a greyish brown color, however it's been 2 full days and it's now turned bright red and the flow is as if I'm on my period. She told me no using tampons, however this weekend I am going out of town to go surfing. Is this normal and when does the bleeding stop?

Hello,

Bleeding following such procedures is expected and will likely stop in the next 3-4 days. Use sanitary pads instead of tampons for now.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Lekshmi Rita Venugopal, General & Family Physician
