How Serious Is The Deviated Uvula In Children With Fever?

My four year old son has had a fever for 24 hours. treated with Tylenol and Ibuprofen. Fevers have spike to 103.4, we have taken several cool showers. Very slow and comfortable for him until we brought his temp down a few degrees. Tonight his temp is better but he complained of sore throat. On visual inspection his Uvula is deviating to the right and there appears to be a small area of Strep on the right. Glands are swollen.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello
As deviation of uvula in children or in adults with throat infection is not significant so need not to worry .
But in your child case if fever still persist then consult a paediatrician and get his opinion.
When such type of patient visit in my clinic usually I prescribe them LEVOFLOXACIN 10 mg / kg body weight once in day and this drug is most important and useful drug in throat infection. Some enzyme syrup is also necessary in children because of nausea.
Tylenol i.e. paracetamol 10 mg is sufficient in two divided dosage .
Cold sponging is also very good.
Since these drugs are a prescription drugs ,so consult your doctor and get his opinion.
Good luck.
