How To Switch Contraceptive?

Hi! I'm using contraceptive pills(Yasmin; ethinylestradiol and drospirenone), but had to stop in the middle since it is giving me terrible headaches.I want to switch to another brand, is it okay if i start it right away or do i need to wait for my next period?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

It is better or continue the same through out the present cycles and change the OCP in the next cycle on wards. Changing the OCP in the middle of a cycle might causes some hormonal disturbance and might result in contraceptive failure.

Wishing you good health.

Thanks.
