How To Treat Cold In A 8 Months Old Child?

my daughter is 2 & 8 months year old child. she is having cold & runny nose after six months of her birth. But now I am watching that some thick fluid is deposted in the nostril and bad smell comes from nassal cavity. What is the cause of this. Pl.reply me and suggest me for better treatment of my daughter
