How To Treat Knee Pain?

Hi,I had a x ray of my right knee, due to knee pain. The report won t go to my doctor for 48 hours, but I did have a look at the x rays that were given to me. I noticed a small, white lump in the x ray, at the bottom of my knee joint. The lump is much much whiter then other bone. At first I thought it could be overlapping bones, but then I figured that would be impossible. I am 26, 165 cm and weigh 62kgs. The pain has been for a few months now.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

X-ray commonly shows details of broken bones, dislocated joints, soft-tissue swelling and excess fluid within the knee. Knee pain can be due to various causes like overuse, hair cracks or fracture, ligament strain or tendon tear due to injury/ trauma, cysts, accumulation of fluid, osteoporosis, RA, OA, gout, obesity, etc.

It can be relieved by taking NSAIDS, Combiflam or Naproxen, one SOS when required. Give rest, do not strain unnecessarily, pain relieving ointments and sprays may help. Do not massage. You are suggested to get clinically examined & get all the required blood tests, urinalysis & imaging tests like MRI and CT if required to detect the factor/ pathology causing you symptoms. You will be treated accordingly. Get treated at the earliest.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
