thank you and yes, my husband has just recieved his medicatione for a Hyper Thyroid condition in which is being treated by 2 meds, one B 12 and the other, 2 tabs of methimazole given at 10 mg once a day . this new medicatione he has also been given the drug that im questioning about, Ergocalcaiferol at 50,0000 unit. please what is this sir i thank you, i have read and Im sure that the vitamin will work for my husband not counteract any other medicationes he is taking.
ma'm, thanks for coming to HCM. as is implied from your question that your husband has been diagnosed as hyperthyroid and started on antithyroid medication along with supplement of vitamin B12 and vitamin D. ergocalciferol is vitamin D which is given as a supplement therapy to most of the pt with chronic diseases specially if they are vegetarian by diet. the dose is as you have mentioned , it is 60 000 IU once a week. you must give him calcium as well along with vitamin D. for dose and availability of brands you must see your doctor. regards!
