Hypothyroidism. On Thyronorm. Having Poor Memory, Constipation, Depression. Hereditary, Cure?
hi doc, i m 22 yrs old male.i have hypothyroidsm and i m taking 75mg thyronorm daily for the last 4 months.. i have poor memory , constipation ,and depression problems....is it because of the hypothyroidsm?how long should i hav to take the medicine.my mother is also having thyroid problems..is it hereditary?( my height is 169 cm and 55kg in weight.)...if the previous mentioned symptoms are becoz of thyroid prob...is there any fast way to cure the disease?i m so bad at studies now..plz help
hi there, thanks for asking. It appears that the symptoms you mentioned are secondary to your thyroid hypo-function. As you mentioned, in many cases family history is positive for thyroid low functioning. Most of the time, the symptoms improve gradually after initiating the medication. Fortunately you have the most benign form of thyroid problem and it is easily managed with substituting the hormone. Thyroid function will be measured every several months in the beginning and yearly after on and in many cases the medication will be decreased and discontinued ultimately after several years. If you live in an area which has less than required amount iodine in the soil, you should take iodine supplement as well. You can ask your doctor about it. I wish you the best health.
