Hysterectomy Done, Secondary Adrenal Insufficiency, Symptoms Of Low Progesterone. Treatment?
I have had a complete hysterecomy and currently am taking 1.25 premarin HRT. I have secondary adrenal insufficiecy and have all the symptoms of low progesterone. I went to my primary today and she said that since I don't have a uterus that progesterone is not given. Is this true because what I have read about progesterone, I would definately benefit from taking it and fell like it would help to improve my current illness.
Hello. Thanks for writing to us. After a total hysterectomy, the progesterone deficiency may develop due to the removal of ovaries. You need to get your serum progesterone levels evaluated and start with the progesterone supplements accordingly. Do consult your gynecologist for this. I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you. Regards, Dr. Rakhi Tayal , drrakhitayal@gmail.com
