I Have A Confirmed Hairline Fracture In My Right Rib From Coughing
I have a confirmed hairline fracture in my right rib from coughing that occurred 2 weeks ago. Yesterday, I had a hard cough again, felt a crunching in my ribs in the same area, followed by severes stabbing pain and shortness of breath . I went to the ER and had xrays....no displaced fractue and no collapsed lung. What happened as I am still i a lot of pain?

In your case fractures of the ribs(hairline) are managed conservatively. You need very good pain control. Do the incentive spirometry every 4 hours. You also need bed rest until the bones heal.
