Infection Under Nail, Is This Required Nail Removal Surgery ?

i had a painful nail infection of my left toe, and it did not respond to the antibiotics. finally the doc advised to under go nail removal surgery, is this the surgery required ? do infection under the nail require removal

Yes, if the nial infection is there and not reponding to antibiotics. The nail will be removed. This also happened to me also in last year. I got the nail removed, the infection subsided and now i have got new nail.

It is advisable to do so. Even if you do not undergo surgery, may be after sometime it has to be removed due to necrosis.

So better now, at least the lesion and infection will heal early.
