I am diebetic (Type 2) taking Glucored Forte before all three meals. Inbetween meals I am eating Volibo 0.3 mg and now my doctor has suggested to take Onglyza 5 mg between breakfast. please advice is taking too many medicines OK. If my sugar levels are constantly high is Insulin suggested. I am 47 years old. How long can one take insulin?

Diabetes management involves diet , exercise and medication. I assume you are doing proper diet and regular exercise.
Your medications are right. You didn't mentioned how many times you are taking Volibo. If you are taking it 3 times a day and still your sugars are high then you can either go for onglyza or Insulin. Both options are good. But i would have started insulin instead of onglyza because the more the number of tablets pill burden increases and also the side effects.
So my advise is to start insulin instead of onglyza.
It may be your fear of pricks, that initiation of insulin is delayed. Please tell your doctor that you are willing to take insulin. It is better to start insulin since normal blood sugar levels are not achieved with oral agents. Insulin is the safest treatment, if dose well adjusted.
