Is Nasonex Recommended For Muffled Hearing And Ear Pain After Having A Root Canal?

Hello, I had a root canal done in August on my right side. About 4 weeks later I had the permanent crown put on and a few days later I bent down to pick something up out of the floor at home and heard what sounded like a breeze blowing through my right ear. Since then I have seen my primary doctor about it who says the ear looks normal and he does not see any fluid. He gave me Nasonex to try to open the Eust Tube and it did not help. Now the breeze noise is more frequent and louder. I don't just hear it when I bend down or turn my head, I hear it when I am sitting still watching tv or doing various daily tasks. Now the breeze sound pulsates and is mixed with a low humming noise. It kind of feels stuffy too. What could this be?

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hi and thanks for the query,
Looks like your Eustachian tube is blocked.
The tube is blocked in nose infections, sudden changes in atmospheric pressure and in tumours of the nasopharynx blocking the opening of the tube.
Are you putting the drops in the right way ?
You need to lie down on the bed and let your head hang down from the edge of the bed without any support. In this position put the drops along the sides of the nostrils. Remain in this position for 2 minutes. Then after 10 mins do steam inhalation, drink lots of water, chew gum 3 times daily and avoid using air conditioning.
If it does not improve then see an ENT specialist. You may need to get a nasal endoscopy to seee the tube opening.
Regards Dr Kishori.
