Is A Barrier Method Advised During Intake Of Contraceptive Pills?

I've been taking tetralysal for six weeks now and am on the contraceptive pill, my consultant said that I should also use a barrier method for a month, after this my body should be used to the antibiotics, and the pill should be effective again, is this true?
