Is Getting Colonoscopy And Endoscopy Safe While Suffering From Hernia?
i saw a general surgeon today for advice on several hernias; i am very muscular so he said it was difficult to access and I have had severe stomach cramps, bloating and blood in stools both dark and light. He referred me to a gastroenterologist for and endoscopy and a colonoscopy as well as a ct scan primarily for the hernias, then he said they may be looking for other more serious complications. is it more risk to complications getting the endoscopy and colonoscopy ?
Hello, 1) These procedures are very safe and development of complications are very rare. 2) Of course these procedures can be done on patient with hernia. 3) CT scan mentioned which type of hernia (based on location). 4) If it is hiatus hernia then endoscopy is useful to check extent of inflammation on esophagus due to reflux of acid into esophagus secondary to hernia
