Is Hot Flashes The Withdrawal Symptom Of Stopping Femodene Tablet?
I sopped taking Femodene about a month ago and am now getting hot flushes is this a common withdrawal symptom? I have been taking the pill for 20+ years (stopped it five years ago to have a child then went back on it when she was born 3.5 years ago however I don t remember the hot flushes when I came off it before). I am 38 years of age.
Femodene contains both ethinyl estradiol and gestodene which is used to prevent pregnancy and menstrual abnormalities. It contains two types of female sex hormones, estrogen and progesterone which works by preventing an egg being released from the ovaries, by making the fluid or mucus in the cervix thicker and by preventing the lining of the womb thickening enough for an egg to grow in it. Sudden stop taking this medication may cause unpleasant side effects that is known as withdrawal syndromes. Estrogen levels decrease after stop taking Femodene, which might cause estrogen withdrawal symptoms such as bloating or swelling, breast tenderness, hot flushes, headache, nausea, vomiting, premenstrual symptoms (PMS) etc. If these withdrawal symptoms persist for long or bother you, then you should consult your doctor promptly for medical help.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
