Is It A Matter Of Concern If Having Cramping, Cloudy Urine, Brown Discharge While Having Mirena IUD?

Mirena
I have the mirena iud. I had it put in July 2011. My periods stopped November 2011 and all spotting stopped February 2012. The last week I have had awful cramping, cloudy urine, and today I've had a little brown discharge. Is this something to worry about?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The symptoms does seems like urinary tract infection. Do a urine routine and culture and if it is UTI, then start on antibiotics. If the pain persist, then consult your gynecologist and check whether the IUD has misplaced or not.

Wishing all the best.

Thanks.
