Is It Necessary To Take Metformin Along With Insulin?
I am a diabetic history of nearly 12 years. presently I have been shifted to Insulin Novomix by my doctor and total dosage is Insulin Novomix (30/70) Morning 45 u+ 1 Istamet (50-1000) + 1 Telista AH 80 and Insulin Novomix (30/70) evening 35 u + 1 ecosprin AV 75. My levels are varying from 110-145 fasting to 175-215 PP.
Should I continue with the both Insulin and Istamet or can I totally shift to Insulin. Is Metmorfin is must to be taken alongwith the insulin Advice Arvind
Hello, It would be good if you give ISTAMET along with insulin. ISTAMET has SITAGLIPTIN and METFORMIN. SITAGLIPTIN would help in stimulating residual beta cells for production of insulin and would also preserve them. METFORMIN would help in reducing insulin resistance and as insulin sensitiser. Thanks
