Dear doctor, my mom is an insulin dependent patient.....3 shots of insulin per day,her recent HbA1c is 6%.she was hospitalised for DKA(went into coma) last year......she is suffering from pain in her legs(not much) coz of which she does not walk....my ques is can she consume nutrilite protein powder along with nutrilite Daily tablets and Cal Mag D...what kind of side effects will protein powder have on her
Hello, Proteins are given in restricted quantities in those diabetics where there is kidney damage resulting from diabetic nephropathy.If the patient has no kidney problem then protein powder can be given to her.Other supplements like daily and calmag can also be given to her,however you must talk to your doctor before giving any supplement to your mother.
